Polyalthia longifolia var. pendula |
|
Polyalthia longifolia is a lofty evergreen tree, native to India, commonly planted due to its effectiveness in alleviating noise pollution. It exhibits symmetrical pyramidal growth with willowy weeping pendulous branches and long narrow lanceolate leaves with undulate margins. The tree is known to grow over 30 ft in height. Polyalthia Longifolia is sometimes incorrectly identified as Ashoka tree (Saraca Indica)because of very close resemblance of both trees. One might mistake it as a tree with effectively without branches, but in fact an Ashoka allowed to grow naturally (without trimming the branches out for decorative reasons) grows into a normal large tree with plenty of shade. The two look identical in every way, trunk and leaves and bark and flowers, and it is perfectly obvious the straight ramrod versions are specially created much as the trimmed trees along lake Geneva are in another shape. Ornamental Foliage Plant |
|
Hosta / Asparagaceae / Agavoideae ( Ornamental Foliage Plant ) Hosta (syn. : funkia) is a genus of about 23–45 species of lily- like plants in the family asparagaceae, subfamily agavoideae, native to northeast asia. They have been placed in their own family, hostaceae (or funkiaceae); like many 'lilioid monocots', they were once classified in the liliaceae. The scientific name is also used as the common name; in the past they were also sometimes called the corfu lily, the day lily, or the plantain lily, but these terms are now obsolete. The name hosta is in honor of the austrian botanist nicholas thomas host. The japanese name giboshi is also used in english to a small extent. The rejected generic name funkia, also used as a common name, can be found in some older literature. Blend of lush green and orange looks very beautiful. The indian nursery is the largest grower of hosta plants in india. Other Information

Tillandsia / Aerophytes / Air plants ( Bromeliaceae ) |
|
Tillandsia is a genus of around 540 species in the Bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae), found in the forests, mountains, and deserts, of Central and South America, and Mexico and the southern United States in North America; now, in The Indian Nursery for you! The thinner-leafed varieties grow in rainy areas and the thick-leafed varieties in areas more subject to drought. Moisture and nutrients are gathered from the air (dust, decaying leaves and insect matter) through structures on the leaves called trichomes. Tillandsia species are epiphytes (also called aerophytes or air plants) – i.e. they normally grow without soil while attached to other plants. Syngonium Yami |
Syngonium species are often grown as house plants, usually only in the juvenile foliage stages. For successful growth, a winter minimum temperature 16 °C to 18 °C (60 to 65°F) must be maintained, rising to 20 °C to 30 °C (68 to 86°F) during the growing season. They require high humidity, including misting the leaves regularly, and good light, but not direct sunlight; they will tolerate low light levels. Water freely from spring to autumn, sparingly in winter. Feed regularly in spring and summer. If juvenile foliage is preferred, cut off all the climbing stems that develop — the plant will remain bushy, rather than climb, and the leaves will be more arrow-shaped. Repot every second spring. The Indian Nursery is a very famous for differnt kind of Syngonium species. Other Information

Chrysothemis pulchella / Black Flamingo / Copper leaf |
|
Tender tropical perennial that can be grown as a houseplant or in a greenhouse. From spring to summer it is covered with very showy orange-red flowers. The bright yellow corolla, with some red striping or spotting, is about twice the length of the calyx, with a narrow tube and flaring lobes. The corolla is short-lived, lasting only a day or two, but the colored calyx is very long-lasting and decorative. Leaves are large, dark-green with brown touch, very ornamental. The stems are thick and succulent, usually upright. Forms a dense mountain of flowers and foliage. The plant forms tubers at the base of the stem, and sometimes also in the leaf axils and might get dormant if temperature gets below 60F. From this point it is somewhat hardy and can survive cool winter as low as 30-40F, but in this case all leaves and stems will vanish. Prefers filtered light and requires regular watering, soil must be moist at all times. Chrysothemis is a genus of about six species. The name is taken from mythology - Chryso Themis was a daughter of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon, of Greek mythology. Chrysothemis pulchella (beautiful) is the most widespread species, the most variable, and the one found most often in cultivation. The plants are not difficult to grow and do well under most indoor growing conditions. It makes an excellent subject for interior tropical landscapes! Other Information

Mussaenda erythrophylla |
The mussaenda is an evergreen shrub related to coffee trees and native to Asia. It is a shrub. The Indian Nursery trains mussaenda to be tree-like in form for landscape use. Their natural habit is to produce many stems and it is quite a rambler. It has silky, hairy, soft medium-green leaves. The plant's color comes from bracts and not the small, often yellow, white or orange, flowers at the center of each bract. This is the same color-producing system used by tropicals such heliconia and bougainvillea. Bracts may be seen in several colors including rose, white, red, pale pink and some mixtures.
